FAQs

When can I play the game?
It is coming soon – early 2026!! Sign up for the free trial today and we will let you know when we release it.

Is the game designed for use in school or at home?
Both! The game is for use in schools and at home, as a homework, revision or home schooling aid.

Is it a single player or multi-player game?
It is a single player game. The Vault is ideal for independent learning where children can progress at their own pace.

What age is The Vault suitable for?
The game is designed for 11-14-year-old children in years 7, 8 and 9 in Key Stage 3 of the English curriculum. We have tested our platform with Year 6 too and the children really enjoyed it and managed the challenges well.

How is storytelling incorporated into the game?
There is an overarching sci-fi adventure story to the game that is set way in the future. Earth is missing and players must help save humanity. They do this through ‘time travel’, embarking on epic quests, each based on a true story aligned with the Key Stage 3 English curriculum.

What is a quest and how big is it?
A quest is a story grouped into 4 or more missions. Each mission comprises 20-30 minutes of gameplay. Each quest has a theme relating to the curriculum. Darwin’s Trial 1 has 5 missions. The mission consists of core gameplay designed to deliver the main learning goals for the mission plus additional gameplay that reinforces and deepens understanding of the learning goals.

How often should the Vault be played?
We recommend that a child play one mission at a time, taking a break of at least an hour or more to process what they have learned. Each quest is designed to span a school term but a child playing at home could work through a quest more rapidly.

Can a child replay a mission?
Yes! There’s lots of extra content buried in each mission and we encourage replay to reinforce and embed learning.

Will there be a parent dashboard?
Yes, from September 2026 a dashboard will show individual player progress as well as time played.

Can I see how much time my child spends playing the game?
We intend to implement this feature in a future release.

What curriculum topics will be covered in the game?
Darwin’s Trial, our first quest, covers biology, geography, chemistry and history from the Key Stage 3 curriculum.

What happens if the curriculum changes?
We keep abreast of curriculum changes to ensure that the game supports learning at school.

Is there an individual assessment?
There are no exams or formal assessments. We conduct assessment in the background to help teachers and parents see how players are progressing.

Is it safe?
There’s no communication or interaction between players so it’s totally safe. The only communication players will receive will be in-game and directly from our team. We’re compliant with the Children’s Code from the Information Commissioner’s Office and governed by the UK’s Online Safety Act 2025.

We recommend that students play each quest over multiple weeks, perhaps one mission per week, over roughly half a term, to reinforce the learning.

How do we address skills development in the game?
Subject specific skills such as those included in Working Scientifically are incorporated into game design, puzzles and challenges. Equally, broader life skills, like the ability to think critically and laterally are woven into quest design and game play.
